Cute But Tasty

I'm starting to feel bad about eating meat with increasing frequency. Growing up, it was pretty easy to be in denial about it. I never associated the meat on my plate with the cute, furry animal. I didn't have any information on the inhumane ways animals are bred, and I didn't try to find out. I've always been pro-eating everything. But now, it's getting harder and harder to ignore the facts and continue to say I'm against animal cruelty w/o hypocrisy. Based on the accounts of how geese are raised for foie gras, I've stopped eating it. That wasn't very hard because foie gras wasn't really part of my diet anyway. However, I'm starting to hear word about pigs and other animals that I eat all the time. I read a Kristoff piece about it. How long will I be able to be in denial about this? And even IF meat producers start using humane ways to raise and kill animals, is that enough to save my meat-eating ways?
